  • Blackburn Rovers 0-2 Manchester City: Adebayor ignites

The new richest club in Premiere League, Manchester City start their money journey team.

Emmanuel Adebayor scored less than three minutes into his debut to help Manchester City to a 2-0 Premier League win away to Blackburn Rovers.

The Togolese striker gave City the perfect start to the 2009/10 season, ramming home the opening goal to finish a move he started.

Midfielder Stephen Ireland put the result beyond doubt in second half stoppage time, slotting the ball coolly past the stranded Paul Robinson,

Although Blackburn dominated the game, with many more goal attempts than the visitors, they lacked the clinical edge provided by City's summer signing from Arsenal.Adebayor took just 150 seconds to show why City shelled out £25 million for his services.

Ireland ensured City ended with a flourish in the 91st minute. He ran on to a Wright-Phillips through-ball, executed a feint that left Robinson on his backside, and eventually shot into the bottom-right corner.
