  • Wolfsburg 2-4 Hamburg: Unbeaten home record break

Champions Wolfsburg lost their impressive unbeaten home record, going down to a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Hamburg.

The Volkswagen Arena was a sell-out once again, but the 30,000 crown were stunned within the first three minutes with an opening goal from Hamburg. A good attack down the left-hand side saw David Jarolim put a square ball across the edge of the penalty area, which was met by Paulo Guerrero. The Peruvian’s shot hit the post but then bounced back into the net off 'keeper Diego Benaglio’s head.

The own-goal was cruel on the goalkeeper, but he was powerless to stop HSV adding a second after seven minutes. A counter-attack, this time down the right saw Mladen Petric force Benaglio into a fine save with a stinging shot. He parried the ball back out, but Eljero Elia picked it up and fired into the back of the net.
