Manchester United needed an own goal Anton Ferdinand to save them from defeat to Sunderland. Finally ending the game with the score 2-2.

Despite appearing on home turf, Old Trafford Stadium, Saturday (3/10/2009), Manchester United failed to show the best performance. Two times they left behind and both times they evened the score.

Sunderland ahead in advance quickly through Darren Bent scored. MU then forced a 1-1 score through Dimitar Berbatov magic goals. Kenwyne Jones brought the visitors back ahead before an own goal Ferdinand closing action.

These results have not shifted position of the MU at the top of the standings with 19 values. But if Chelsea will entertain Liverpool can win, the Blues can go back perched on top.
