  • Fulham 4-0 Notts County: Davies,Zamora,Duff,Okaka score

Simon Davies set the Cottagers on their way with a fine low finish midway through the first half, before Bobby Zamora doubled Fulham's lead five minutes before half-time with a sweetly-struck volley.

Despite plenty of possession at the start of the second half, County struggled to test Mark Schwarzer in the Fulham goal, and Damien Duff put the match to bed with a near-post finish after cutting in from the left on 75 minutes. Substitute Stefano Okaka rounded things off by nutmegging 'keeper Kasper Schmeichel.

Such an emphatic scoreline seemed most unlikely in what was an evenly-contested start to the match, where County neutralised the Fulham midfield well, and provoked a few nervous murmurings around the home fans as Craig Westcarr and Ben Davies both sent powerful shots just past the post.

With almost their first real attack of the game, however, Fulham were ahead. Danny Murphy clipped an inviting ball over the top of the defence for Davies, who brought the ball down and powered a low shot just inside the far post, despite the close attentions of John Thompson.

Zamora's strength began to cause the visiting side problems, and indeed he fired in his side's second goal to round of a fine team move. Nicky Shorey cut inside before feeding David Elm, whose flick on was chested down by Zamora and volleyed beyond the outstretched arms of Schmeichel into the bottom corner.

Davies saw a succession of shots fly wide as County looked to mount a fightback at the start of the second half, though their resolve was finally broken when Duff profited from more lax marking to put the result beyond doubt.

Duff latched onto Zamora's ball out to the right, before cutting inside and firing through the legs of Johnnie Jackson and in at the near post.

Okaka, on in place of Zamora, rounded things off by evading the attentions of Stephen Hunt to break clear of the County defence before slamming home through the legs of Schmeichel.
