  • Westham United 3-2 Wigan Athletic: Parker super-strike

Parker super strike put Westham United big step towards their Premier League survival with a battling 3-2 win over Wigan Athletic at Upton Park.

Hammers captain Scott Parker scored the winner of a topsy turvy encounter on his return from suspension. An early Jonathan Spector own goal had given Wigan the lead, but the visitors had to pull themselves level with a Hugo Rodallega strike after Ilan and Radoslav Kovac had put the East Londoners in front.

The win now puts West Ham one place above the relegation zone on 34 points with two games left, six ahead of Hull and seven ahead of Burnley, who play their game in hand on the pair at Birmingham on Sunday.

West Ham: Green, Faubert, da Costa, Upson, Spector, Behrami, Parker, Kovac, Noble, Ilan, Cole. Subs: Kurucz, Gabbidon, Franco, McCarthy, Diamanti, Daprela, Stanislas.

Wigan: Kirkland, Melchiot, Caldwell, Bramble, Figueroa, Watson, Diame, McCarthy, N'Zogbia, Moreno, Rodallega. Subs: Stojkovic, Gohouri, Scharner, Scotland, Moses, Sinclair, Boyce.
