  • USA 1-2 Ghana: Boateng solo-run, Gyan great-strike

    Ghana successfully stepped into the quarterfinals after removing the United States in the round of 16 large. The Black Stars won 2-1 over half of extra time.

    In a match that held in the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday (26 / 6/2010) , Ghana managed to excel through Kevin-Prince Boateng scored in the first round. Then equated Landon Donovan in the second round by white spots.

    Until the end of normal time score 1-1 and the match continued into extra time. In the 93rd minute Asamoah Gyan emerged as a hero by his great-strike that brought Ghana qualify for the last eight.

    In the next phase Ghana will face Uruguay, who beat South Korean.



    The game

    In the 4th minute the U.S. trying to threaten the goal of Ghana, Clint Dempsey hard kick from outside the penalty box can be saved by Richard Kingson.

    But Ghana was the one who can score goals in the first five minutes. From the middle of the field Kevin Prince Boateng great solo run from midfield, then beats goalkeeper Tim Howard.

    In minute 18 Ghana get the opportunity again. Asamoah Gyan's free kick from the right side of the U.S. defense leads directly to the goal of making Howard had to fly to punch the ball.

    Laga entered the U.S. 62nd minute penalty after violations of the prize was given to Jonathan Mensah Dempsey. Donovan, who ran as an executor of the skin round nest success and the U.S. leveled 1-1.

    In the 80th minute to turn around the U.S. had a golden opportunity ahead. Altidore who got the ball in the penalty box as he escorted one player who is still wide open fire on the left goalpost Kingson.

    Score 1-1 - still survive until normal time. So extra time the match was resumed.

    Gyan! Ghana attacker brought his team back the lead in the 93rd minute. Obtain feedback from Dede Ayew stomach, Gyan controlled the ball with his chest and beat Carlos Bocanegra in a duel one on one before releasing the shot left leg hard into the corner of Howard wicket.

    U.S. tried to attack the Ghana defense until the last minute. But the resilience of Kingson and meeting the U.S. defense to make the score 2-1 difficulty and length of stay until the whistle sounded. Ghana qualify for the first time the quarterfinals.
