  • Sheffield United 1-3 Aston Villa: Walker, Petrov great-strike, Young red-card

Aston Villa gave Gerard Houllier a much-needed win as the visitors edged past Sheffield United 3-1 at Bramall Lane in the FA Cup third round.
Kyle Walker had put Villa in front early with a goal on his debut, while Marc Albrighton doubled the advantaged before the interval.

Sheffield United were given a route back into the game when Jamie Ward converted a dubious penalty, and the pressure increased on the Premier League side when Ashley Young picked up a second yellow card in the final quarter of an hour.

But a Stiliyan Petrov strike deep into injury time settled the tie.
