  • Blackpool 1-1 Aston Villa: Agbonlahor scored, Makoun red-card

Blackpool miss the opportunity to leapfrog 10-man Aston Villa into 14th place in the Premier league, after Elliot Grandin cancelled out Gabriel Agbonlahor's early opener in an entertaining 1-1 draw at Bloomfield Road.
Villa caught Blackpool on the break for Agbonlahor's 10th-minute opener. Jean Makoun's driven low ball was deftly flicked into Agbonlahor's path, and the 24-year-old confidently rounded Richard Kingson before slotting the ball into the bottom corner of the goal.

The lead proved short-lived, however, as Villa's defence was undone again from a simple corner.

Villa have conceded more goals from corners than any other team in the Premier League, and it was easy to see why as Elliot Grandin rose unmarked to nod Charlie Adam's corner past Brad Friedel at the near post.

Jean Makoun is sent-off, What a ridiculous challenge. Having already made a suspiciously two-footed challenge after 53-minutes, Makoun repeats the trick 17 minutes later, this time on DJ Campbell. Both go in for a 50/50 in the middle of the pitch, and Makoun flies into Campbell's ankle with both feet showing studs, and Howard Webb immediately produces the red card. Makoun can have no complaints about that
