  • Newcastle 2-2 Tottenham: Defoe, Amoebi great-strike

    Newcastle United managed to force a 2-2 draw when Tottenham Hotspur entertain. Had lagged twice, Shola Ameobi scored the Magpies saved from defeat.

    Compete at St. James' Park on Sunday (16.10.2011), Spurs winning 1-0 at halftime. The Lilywhites created goal through a penalty Rafael van der Vaart.

    In the second half, Demba Ba scored an equalizer to make Newcastle 1-1. But, the Spurs ahead again through Jermain Defoe. Ameobi eventually be the home team's hero after scoring the equalizing goal in the last minute.

    A draw is not to change position Newcastle ranked fourth in the standings with 16 points from eight games. Spurs remain in the ranks sixth with 13 points from seven games.



    The game

    Both teams are equally difficult to develop the game early in the first half. As a result, not too many opportunities created.

    Just broke the deadlock in the 40th minute when Spurs awarded a penalty after Steven Taylor violated Emmanuel Adebayor in a restricted area. Van der Vaart who became executor of their duties flawlessly.

    Friedel made two brilliant rescue at minute 81 and 83. After Cheik Tiote dismissed hard kick from outside the penalty box, he also dispelled Ryan Taylor's free kick.

    Ameobi saves Newcastle from defeat last four minutes before the end of normal time. After receiving feedback Hatem Ben Arfa, Ameobi cut into the side of the penalty box before sending the ball into the far post without being able to reach Friedel.
