  • Norwich City 3-1 Swansea: Pilkington double, Martin, Graham scored

Norwich scored twice in the opening 10 minutes before running out comfortable 3-1 winners against Swansea in the meeting of the Premier League newcomers at Carrow Road.
Paul Lambert's side scored with their first attack of the day when Anthony Pilkington finished Elliott Bennett's knockdown after a fine ball by Steve Morison in the opening minute.

They added a second goal on 10 minutes with Russell Martin rising to power home a header from close range after David Fox had thrown over a fine delivery from a free-kick.

Swansea appeared to be reeling, but were back in the game moments later when Danny Graham turned the ball into the Norwich net via a post thanks to a pass by Wayne Routledge for only his side's second away goal of the season.

Despite dominating possession for much of the first period, that was as good as it was to get for the visiting side, who played their usual brand of neat and tidy stuff without ever threatening to reduce their arrears.

Home goalkeeper John Ruddy made a comfortable stop from Scott Sinclair on 25 minutes, but spent most of the afternoon as a spectator as Norwich's more direct brand of football held sway on the day.

With former Millwall forward Morison the outstanding player on view for Norwich, the home side always had a sharper edge that was missing in their 2-0 loss at Manchester United a fortnight ago.

Welsh forward Morison slammed a shot over the bar on 22 minutes while he played provider to set up Pilkington on 28 minutes only for his team-mate to rattle a shot into the side of the net.

Morison then bounded beyond Garry Monk as if he was not there on 31 minutes, but this time Michael Vorm dived to claw out the home player's shot.

All the chance continued to swirl around the visiting goal in the second half.

Johnson headed wide from Fox's corner on 50 minutes while Volt got down to save from Grant Holt on 70 minutes - who had replaced the tiring Morison seconds earlier - before Ashley Williams dashed back to make a timely tackle on Wes Hoolahan. The game was done and dusted by that stage.

Norwich were the dominant side in the second period and buried the match as a contest when Bradley Johnson played provider with a cool pass in the area for Pilkington to turn the ball into the net to ensure his side of the three points.

Norwich are in the top half of the table in ninth place before they visit Liverpool on Saturday with Swansea's next match being a trip to face Wolves on the same afternoon at Molineux.

Norwich have now won ten and lost only one of their last 11 matches in all competitions against Swansea at Carrow Road.

Few of the 26,500 supporters inside a sun-kissed Carrow Road would have begrudged them these particular three points.
