VfL Wolfsburg kicked off the new Bundesliga season in the spirit of champions as they ousted VfB Stuttgart 2-0 at the Volkswagen-Arena.

But Edin Dzeko passed up a great opportunity to open the scoring as Wolfsburg turned the screw.

Indeed, the hosts looked by far the more accomplished side as the second period kicked off, Karim Ziani and Grafite combining to good effect.

Eventually Misimovic provided the lead with a rocket past Jens Lehmann after some superb close control.
