  • Czech Republic 0-2 Spain: Lopez great-double

Adrian scored twice as Spain justified their status as Euro U21 favourites with a comfortable 2-0 win over the Czech Republic in Viborg.

Juan Mata played in Adrian for the opener on 27 minutes as he raced clear to slip the ball beyond Tomas Vaclik in the Czech goal.

It was a classy finish and his night got better on 47 minutes when he gave the Czech defence the slip again from another lovely pass by Mata to hand Spain a 2-0 lead with a sharp finish that left Vaclik well beaten with the ball hitting the net via the inside of a post.

Spain go top of Group B with four points and will claim a spot in the semi-finals if they overcome Ukraine in their final group match on Sunday.

Spain were criticised for enjoying plenty of possession in the 1-1 draw with England on Saturday while failing to add to their early goal in a match that saw an outplayed England side level two minutes from time.

There was never any danger of a repeat against the Czechs, who had enjoyed a 2-0 win over Ukraine in their opening Group B game.

Spain were in the mood from the outset and ended the match with almost 70% of possession as a side containing a smattering of La Liga's brightest prospects really impressed on a sunny afternoon in Denmark.

Czech defender Jan Lecjaks was forced to look sharp to hack an effort from Mata off his line on nine minutes.

Mata almost gave Spain a 2-0 lead a moment after their opening goal when Didac set up Mata, but his shot was somehow stopped by the busy Vaclic on 28 minutes.

Iker Muniain and Tomas Pekhart drove efforts at goal at either end before the break, but Spain continued to dominate after half-time.

Adrian's second goal killed the game as a contest, but Atletico Madrid keeper David de Gea showed his class with his one save of the match on 85 minutes as he dived to nudge Ondrej Celustka's header wide of a post in the closing minutes.http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif

The Czechs will have to beat England in their final group match if England can down Ukraine later on Wednesday.

They will welcome a few days rest after being given a serious workout by a technically superior Spain side.
