  • Blackburn 1-2 Wolves: Formica, Ward great-strike, Fletcher header

Wolves came from behind to beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 at Ewood Park in their first game of the 2011-12 Premier League season.
Mauro Formica scored on his Premier League debut after some strong play by Jason Roberts on the edge of the penalty area.

Steven Fletcher then levelled the score before half time with a towering header at the far post following some neat work by Matt Jarvis on the wing.

Wolves continued to apply pressure on the hosts throughout the second half and were awarded a penalty when Michel Salgado brought down Jarvis.

Kevin Doyle stepped up to take the penalty but saw it saved by the body of Paul Robinson.

Blackburn failed to clear though, and allowed Stephen Ward to volley in from 18 yards.

David Goodwillie was introduced for his Premier League debut in the hope of rescuing his side a point but Wolves held strong.
