Real Madrid successfully keep the throne of La Liga after a 3-0 victory over Sporting Gijon on Saturday (12/04/2011) .

In the action at El Molinon Stadium, Real Madrid closed the first half with the score 1-0 through goals Angel Di Maria.

In the second half Cristiano Ronaldo  and Marcelo added two goals. Gijon play with minus one player after Sebastien Eguren received a red card.

These three points make Los Merengues firmly in the top league with 37 points from 14 matches, six points ahead of Barcelona.

Gijon meanwhile slumped at number 19 with 12 points from the same amount of action.


The game

Madrid tried to make the first threat in the 17th minute by Cristiano Ronaldo. Unfortunately his shot just wide of the target.

Two minutes later Di Maria dar hard shot outside the penalty box was right leads to Gijon goalkeeper.
